By now you have visited and probably heard a lot about the UMW Console Living Room and some of its contents. As a homework assignment, I want you to pay another visit to the living room and share your thoughts and experiences.
Bearing in mind the topics and discussion in Kyle Rentschler's sidebar, "Values of Game Hardware" in Values at Play, choose one or two devices to sit with and play for a while, reflecting as you do so on how the hardware's design -- including its controllers, casing, interface to TV, and anything else that comes to mind -- reveals or relates to value. For example, ask yourself: what does this device assume about who will be playing it and where?
Share your experiences in one or more of the following ways:
- Find the item(s) you interact with on consolelivingroom.net/inventory and post a comment there describing your experience(s). (3 substantive comments.)
- Post images and observations on Twitter, Instagram or Flickr using the hashtag #umwconsole. (5 - 10 images or tweets.)
- Write post on your personal domain or blog (if you have one) about the experience.
Whatever you do, post a link here for an easy homework grade.
